MANCHESTER UNITED are reportedly in the race of Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele and are expected to make January proposal for the player in order to solve their goal crisis.

Manchester United are short of striking options with Romelu Lukaku sold this summer and Alexis Sanchez loaned out.

Marcus Rashford out with a groin injury and Anthony Martial also part of the sidelined, the manager has come under fire for begetting a lack of selections in the attacking role.

According to The Independent, United chiefs will launch a winter transfer bid for Dembele, who has only two appearances this season after suffering a hamstring injury.

A source quoted the Frenchman is “under consideration” but is believed to cost around £100million.

The 22-year-old scored eight goals in 29 La Liga games last season and has been capped 21 times for his country – is not a guaranteed first-team starter at the Blaugrana.

Antoine Griezmann has joined this summer in a €120m deal while youngsters Ansu Fati and Carles Perez have also impressed in attacking roles this season, alongside the continued presence of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.

Dembele, 22, has endured two campaigns blighted by injury at the Camp Nou and it has been reported that there is growing frustration over his continued fitness issues.
