Liverpool midfielder Fabinho looks to be in a race to be ready for the Champions League final against Real Madrid at the end of the month.
In Tuesday night’s 2-1 win against Aston Villa, the 28-year-old was forced off with what seemed to be a hamstring injury.
Brazil subsequently added him to their squad for upcoming matches against South Korea, Japan, and Argentina, with fitness coach Fabio Mahseredjian providing an update on Fabinho’s condition.
“Fabinho felt a muscle and we’re in contact with Liverpool,” he told reporters on Wednesday.
“He’ll have some tests today, but we think he’ll be fit for the Champions League final.”
Fabinho is expected to miss the FA Cup final against Chelsea on Saturday, as well as Liverpool’s remaining Premier League games against Southampton and Wolves.
Captain Jordan Henderson, who has played a more forward role for the majority of the season, is expected to drop back to cover in Fabinho’s defensive midfield position.
