Burnley Vs Manchester City
Burnley returned from the international break in the 19th spot with 21 points which puts them four points from safety with them having 11 games to play. Man City are top of the table but the gap has been cut to one point and a vital game with Liverpool is still to come.
The Clarets have lost three straight league games and taken just one point from their last four. City drew their last game with Palace to make it four points dropped in their last four which allowed Liverpool to step back in.
At Turf Moor, it is just one win in their last nine for Burnley but they have drawn with Man United, beaten Tottenham and only lost 1-0 to Liverpool recently. On the road, the blue half of Manchester are unbeaten in 15 but have drawn two of their last four.
The Lancashire side needs someone to start firing in the goals having failed to bag in their last three and just two in their last five. Riyad Mahrez has three in his last three while Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden have two in five.
Eight of the last ten for Burnley have gone under 2.5 goals and just two of these ten have seen both teams net. Manchester City has gone under in five of their last eight and three of their last four if just looking at away Premier League games.
Prediction: 2 @ 1.24
Chelsea Vs Brentford
Before the international break, Chelsea made the trip to Middlesbrough in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup. A goal from Lukaku in the 15th-minute put Chelsea in front and the visitors never really looked back from that point on. Ziyech made it 2-0 just after the half-hour mark as Mount picked up his second assist of the game, and Chelsea held on to secure safe passage into the semi-finals.
Chelsea sits 10pts behind Liverpool and 11pts behind Man City, so their chances of winning the title look very slim this season but they must claim the third spot and remain in the Champions League next season. League games.
Prediction: 1 @ 1.45
Freiburg Vs Bayern Munich
Freiburg will welcome league leaders Bayern Munich at Europa Park Stadium when the Bundesliga returns after the international break. The hosts are fifth ahead of this game with 45 points while Bayern are top with 63 points.
Freiburg are pushing their targets for this season on two fronts; in the league, they are going for a top four finish and they are also in the DFB Pokal, which they should be aiming at winning. For the short term, the target is three points, which could push them to fourth, since RB Leipzig have a tough away game at Borussia Dortmund.
Freiburg are beaten in their last seven matches across all competitions. In the league, they have a six-game unbeaten run and three of their last five league matches have produced over 2.5 goals. They go into this game having drawn 0-0 with bottom placed Greater Furth, a game that marked the second time in 10 league games that they failed to score. Both teams have scored in three of their last five matches.
Bayern Munich are also unbeaten in their last seven matches and in the last 10 matches they have only lost once. They’ve scored two or more goals in six of their last 10 games and in their last 74 league matches, they haven’t failed to score. It can be an easy pick for Bayern to win here, which will be baked by their record agent Freiburg, but it is the defence that they will need tightening. In their last five matches, they have three clean sheets and though they are unbeaten in their last 11 matches against Freiburg, only two have produced clean sheets.
Bayern Munich have eight wins in the last 11 matches against Freiburg but in the last seven meetings, both these teams have managed to score. Each of the last five meetings has produced over 2.5 goals.
Prediction: Over 2.5 @ 1.56
Atl. Madrid Vs Alaves
Atletico made it five La Liga victories in a row when they beat Rayo Vallecano 1-0 before the international break, with Koke scoring the only goal of the contest, and the result left Simeone’s side in the fourth spot in the table, three points behind second-placed Sevilla.
The capital giants have had their problems this season, and they have not been able to launch a strong defence of their title, currently sitting 12 points behind division leaders Real Madrid.
However, Atletico now have the second position in their sights, while they beat Manchester United 2-1 on aggregate in the last-16 stage of the Champions League to set up a quarter-final with Manchester City, and the first leg of the last-eight affair will take place at the Etihad Stadium next week.
It will be fascinating to see whether Simeone’s team can make it a Manchester double in the European Cup this term, and the capital outfit appears to have found their best form at the business end of the campaign.
The Red and Whites have the fourth-best home record in La Liga this term, picking up 30 points from their 14 matches, and they will be taking on an Alaves outfit that have won just once on their travels in the league this season, collecting only six points from 14 games.
