Real Madrid has revealed the signing of Aurelien Tchouameni, which many in Madrid thought was a done deal.
This season, the 22-year-old French sensation was voted Young Player of the Year in Ligue 1 and has been one of Europe’s most remarkable young midfielders. This is a major signing even for Real Madrid.
On Saturday afternoon, the club confirmed the agreement via their official website, confirming Tchouameni’s six-year contract with Los Blancos until 2028. Although they did not reveal the charge for Monaco, Italian writer Fabrizio Romano speculated that it would be approximately €100 million, with a fixed fee of €80 million and a variable fee of €20 million.
Tchouameni will be officially introduced to the fans on Tuesday at noon CEST, after which he will undergo medical testing and have a press conference.
This is Real Madrid’s second foray into the market, following the free-agent signing of Antonio Rudiger from Chelsea. Despite winning the Champions League, Real Madrid looks to be looking to enhance their roster. Tchouameni might be the midfielder who will dominate European football for years to come.
