Spurs have apparently achieved a ‘complete agreement’ with Udinese for the acquisition of Destiny Udogie, however, the left-back may have to wait until the end of the season. Tottenham have been one of the more busy Premier League clubs in the summer transfer window, bringing in Richarlison, Yves Bissouma, and Djed Spence.
Clement Lenglet has also joined on loan, while Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster have joined on a free transfer. However, their expenditure is unlikely to stop there, with Conte plainly concerned about the full-back situation on either wing.
With the departure of the Spaniard, Matt Doherty, Sergio Reguilon, and Emerson Royal all face unclear futures at the club. Tottenham have Perisic and Sessegnon as possibilities down the left flank, but Udogie has recently emerged as another alternative.
In Italy, reports surfaced this week that Tottenham had reached an agreement with Udinese on a transaction for approximately £20 million. And now, according to Fabrizio Romano, a “complete agreement” has been achieved.
It is said that agency fees, personal terms, and a fee have now been agreed upon and that the transaction will ‘be finalized next week.’ Udogie might be eligible for selection against Chelsea next weekend if this happens.
But, according to Romano, Udogie may have to wait to formally join Tottenham since both Conte and Fabio Paratici want to loan him back to Udinese. For the time being, Conte has stated that both Sessegnon and Perisic will compete for the starting berth on the left side of the defense.
And the former Inter Milan and Chelsea manager conceded that today’s game against Southampton may come too soon for Perisic’s recovery from injury.
“It’s typical to struggle a little after a significant injury to get back in the greatest physical shape, “Conte stated. “To be honest, I’m amazed by how quickly he recovered. We are overjoyed.
“At the same time, we are not concerned, but we must pay close care to give him enough time to adjust and fully heal from his injuries.” But I know him well, and he is an excellent addition to our team. His expertise will be extremely valuable to the younger guys.
“Sessegnon is a player who fills the same function as me. Ivan can teach him a variety of circumstances to help Sess. But, in many ways, he is an excellent addition to our team. Then we’ll see what happens. Tomorrow is another training session. Play either him or Sess.”
