Africa Cup of Nations Predictions Guide
The Africa Cup of Nations is the continent's biggest international tournament. Twenty-four national teams, including the Super Eagles, play a group stage followed by knockout rounds. The 2027 tournament is set to be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. Qualifiers run in international breaks during the years before each finals.
Tournament football is different from league football. Group matches are often cautious, because a draw can be enough to go through, and knockout matches can be decided by extra time and penalties. Squads also matter more than recent club form, as players arrive from many different leagues.
Our predictions cover the 90-minute result of each match. For the Super Eagles and other leading nations, the model weighs squad quality and recent international results, not only reputation.
What our model looks at in the AFCON
- Group-stage permutations: who needs a win and who is happy with a draw
- Squad availability and players' club form
- Climate and venue for the host country
- 90-minute result only: extra time and penalties are not included
How Our AFCON Predictions Work
Every Africa Cup of Nations fixture runs through the same probability model used across Supatips, built on recent form, home and away records, attacking and defensive output and bookmaker pricing. Each match shows decimal odds for home win (1), draw (X) and away win (2), the outcome the model backs, a confidence percentage and a goals view. Finished matches show a ✓ or ✗ so you can see how the picks held up. Kick-off times are in West Africa Time.
Confidence is the model's estimated chance for the outcome it backs: a 60% home win still leaves a 40% chance of a draw or away win. Use these figures as a guide, not a guarantee. Save any match with the ☆ star and find it later on My Selection.
